Central Maine Truck & Trailer Service (CMTTS) is seeking experienced Level I, II, and Level III Diesel Technicians to work at our Hermon location.

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the primary responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs general repairs to manufacturers specifications
  • Assures a valid Repair Order is written and remains with vehicle as repairs are being completed.
  • Obtains needed parts from parts area and assures parts are recorded on RO; assures unused parts are returned to parts area.
  • Performs general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel and propane powered engines such as automobiles, trucks, tractors and other automotive and mechanical equipment at off-site locations and at the garage.
  • Inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary parts including valves, hoses, belts and alternators.
  • Repairs cooling, fuel, electrical and exhaust systems.
  • Performs required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, productivity and life of the unit.
  • Fabricates and welds to repair equipment as necessary per manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Ensures that customers vehicles are kept clean and washed after repair is completed.
  • Ensures timely submission of RO to Shop Foreman & Service Writer.
  • Participates in company sponsored trainings with the goal of continued education and industry knowledge.
  • Works with other Diesel Technicians to assure garage and equipment are kept clean, orderly and presentable.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Follows all safety protocols and reports any potential or existing safety concerns to Shop Foreman.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Shop Foreman & Shop Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • Stat Inspection License within three months of hire or promotion
  • Current and valid CDL preferred
  •  Knowledge of
    • Engines and controls
    • Transmissions and controls
    • Brakes and suspensions
    • Various vehicles and equipment
    • Diagnosis and repair of electrical and mechanical systems on trucks and equipment
    • Welding and cutting
    • DOT Inspections
